Started in the the mid 19th century by the Dutch colonials in Java, Rijsttafel is a gastronomic experience like no other. It is a feast on legs. It is a manner of performance art before people knew what performance art was! The Rijsttafel culinary cultural parade is a procession of 12 lovely maidens - all dressed in ultra elegant kebayas - each carrying one dish of Indonesian food that is served to seated guests in rotation. A true form of Dinner Theater, this dramatic style of serving has been refined & enhanced by the team at Oasis Grand Rijsttafel Heritage Restaurant.
